Leitrim farming official responds to social Justice Ireland



A Leitrim based member of the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers association has defended farmers efforts in helping Ireland reach it’s climate goals that’s despite a new report that states Ireland is not hitting a number of targets.

 

Brendan Barry was responding to claims form Social Justice Ireland the Irish agricultural sector needs to transform and perform to help in order for the country  reach our climate change goals.

 

 

The group’s new report, ‘Measuring Progress’ found Ireland is seriously underperforming when it comes to affordable energy, clean water and sustainable agriculture.

 

 

Speaking to Ocean FM news Cllr Brendan Barry says the report is another slap in the face for farmers that are doing their best to protect the environment
