Sligo’s Summer Festival saw record crowds over the weekend

Sligo’s Summer Festival saw record crowds over the weekend.

It’s been deemed one of the countries cheapest festivals and organisers say they are proud of the great value of a €3 per day entry fee which has gained national headlines in the last week.

The festival which was extended to 4 days and nights this year had an impressive line-up including country music legend Mike Denver last night.

Finbarr Filan, Chairperson of Sligo’s Business Improvement District says the price has always been based on attracting families to the event:

Meanwhile, Gardai say there were just three arrests in the Stephen Street area over the weekend.

The arrests were alcohol-related.

Gardai say it’s a low number of incidents considering the number of people in the town over the weekend.
