Terry Hyland is appointed new Leitrim boss

Terry Hyland is the new manager of the Leitrim senior footballers.

The former Cavan senior and U21 boss was ratified at a County Board meeting last night, and he will succeed Brendan Guckian, who departed the post after being told he would have to re-apply for a job he had held for the past two seasons.

It is Hyland’s first post since he departed the Cavan senior manager’s job in 2016, and his backroom team will be announced at a later stage.

He is likely to take in some of the round three games in the Leitrim Senior and Intermediate Championships this weekend.

On Friday night, Aughawillan and Drumreilly clash in Cloone in the senior at 8.30pm.

On Saturday at 5.30pm it is Glencar/Manorhamilton versus Bornacoola in Ballinamore; Mohill versus Gortlettragh in Cloone; St Mary’s against Aughnasheelin in Drumshanbo and Dromahair against Ballinamore in Pairc Seán.

On Sunday, Melvin Gaels play Allen Gaels in Ballinamore at 12 noon.

Among tomorrow’s intermediate ties at 7pm, Ballinaglera play Cloone in Drumshanbo and Drumkeerin face Leitrim Gaels in Pairc Seán.

And on Sunday in the Junior A Championship, Glenfarne/Kilty play Gortlettragh in Drumshanbo, while Melvin Gaels and Drumkeerin will also be in action against Allen Gaels and Carrigallen respectively.
