Traffic delays expected in Ballisodare as road works due to start on Monday



Significant traffic disruption is expected to occur in the Sligo village of Ballisodare during 12 weeks of road and footpath works that will start this coming Monday.

The work includes provision of a new footpath from the grotto in the village up along the N59/Ballina road toward the Cloondara estate.

Meanwhile, another footpath will be built from the village as far as the Silver Springs estate, which is near Ballydrehid Bridge on the old N4.

The third phase of works will be resurfacing of almost two kilometres of road from the N59 to Belladrehid Bridge.

The works will start on Monday on the section of road in front of St Mary’s College, near Toolan’s shop.

Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy has warned that depsite new speed limits on the N59 at Corhownagh, vehicles still continue to speed as they come into the village.

But he says a traffic management plan will be in place for the period of the works.
