Rovers to welcome back suspended trio for Bohs tie

Sligo Rovers boss Gerard Lyttle will have a welcome selection headache ahead of tomorrow’s home game against Bohemians at the Showgrounds.

Captain Kyle Callan-McFadden, leading scorer Adam Morgan and in-form midfielder David Cawley all return from suspension for the game, while Gary Boylan is set to be available again following injury, after not featuring in Monday’s defeat of Bray Wanderers.

It means only goalkeeper Michéal Schlingermann is likely to miss the tie, and presents the Bit O’ Red with an opportunity to extend their unbeaten run to four matches.

Lyttle says Bohemians will be dangerous opposition…

Tomorrow’s game kicks-off in the Showgrouds at 7.45pm.

Rovers are preparing for the first of five matches in 14 days in all competitions.

Gerard Lyttle said: “The results have been good, the performances are improving and we’re demanding more because it’s well within us.

“We put ourselves in a position against Bray to close out the game comfortably and we didn’t, which was one disappointment. But between the St Pat’s and Bray games we have moved on from our poor start at home. That was something that had to change. The players realise what every night in The Showgrounds means to our supporters.

“We were down bodies again on Monday including four or five players that started the first game against Bray. We dealt with it well and obviously John Mahon and Jack Keaney have made cases that they should be in the team in the last few matches. It’s not just Jack and John that are showing their worth to the squad and it’s nice to be in that position. Much has been made of the scheduling and I agree with the criticism. We have to cope with that and the squad will be tested over the couple of weeks but we feel we are well-equipped at least.

“The first game with Bohemians was tight and they are probably in a similar position to us. Sometimes they deserve better than they get and they look a good side in many of their performances. They have a talented squad and were very unlucky against Waterford last week from our viewing. They’ll be itching to get the win to kick-start their season.

“But we’re a good side too and focus on our own display. The belief we have in the players is justified and putting a run together is very much within our reach. We take each game on one a time and this will be a tough one but it’s another chance to show what we’re all about to our home supporters.”

Tonight, there is a Munster derby as Cork City host Limerick, while Dundalk travel to Waterford, Derry City go to bottom side Bray Wanderers, and St Patrick’ Athletic host Shamrock Rovers.

In the First Division this evening, Finn Harps host second-placed Drogheda United in Finn Park from 8pm, knowing a win could take them joint-third.

Leaders UCD are away to Shelbourne, Wexford host Cabinteely, and managerless Athlone Town are home to Galway United.
