BreastCheck sites in Sligo Town being looked at

Two sites in Sligo are now being considered for the Breastcheck mobile unit.

It follows concern recently that women from around Sligo town were being told they had to go to Tubbercurry for their mammograms.

A spokesperson for Breastcheck has confirmed to Ocean FM News that a decision is imminent on the future location of Breastcheck in Sligo town.

It follows concern that the site at Carraroe Retail Park was no longer available for the service to use.

As a result women due for their mammograms were being invited to attend the unit in Tubbercurry.

But there was uproar with concern that it was not easily accessible for people.

Breastcheck secured a new suitable site in Collooney in recent weeks but local business people wrote to them offering a number of other locations in Sligo town.

Breastcheck has confirmed to Ocean FM that two sites in particular are now being looked at in Sligo town.

One at the showgrounds of Sligo Rovers on Church Hill in Sligo and the other at the Homecare pharmacy on the Pearse road.

A spokesperson for Breastcheck says a final decision is expected early this week.
