Owner of Ballymote hotel fears boil water notice may last for months



The owner of a hotel in Ballymote says she fears a boil water notice in South Sligo could last for months.

It was confirmed on Friday evening that the boil water notice will remain in place until at least the end of April.

The bacteria cryptosporidium was detected in the Lough Talt water supply last month and in the latest round of sampling another six cases have been detected.

13,000 customers on the supply are affected.

Head Chef at the Coach House in Ballymote, Margaret Melia has also hit out at local representatives, saying they’ve heard nothing since the boil water notice came in….
