Work to start in coming weeks on four sewage plants in County Sligo



A Sligo councillor says work on upgrading four sewage treatment plants in the county will start in the coming weeks and will be finished between April and October next year.

Independent Alliance Concillor Marie Casserly says contractors are already on site in Grange, in north Sligo.

The other three plants ton which work will soon start are Tubbercurry, Strandhill and Ballinafad.

Contracts for the work, which involves investment of €16m, were signed last November by Irish Water and Coffey Northumbrian Ltd.

Irish Water expects the works to take about 22 months.
