Water restrictions in Leitrim may continue



Irish Water says it’s monitoring the water supply in Leitrim and will decide whether further nighttime restrictions will have to be put in place.

Restrictions had to be put in place on the South Leitrim Water Treatment Plant in Carrick on Shannon last night due to mechanical issues at the plant.

Further nighttime restrictions have not been ruled out and people are asked to conserve water where possible.

It comes as Irish Water is struggling to cope with the fallout from last week’s storm around the country mostly around Dublin where 1.2m people have had their supplies restricted.
