Sinn Fein Cllr says idea that significant upgrade at Sligo hospital will be completed in a few years ‘farcical’

The idea that construction will begin on a new Emergency Department, ward and wing at Sligo University Hospital within three years is farcical according to a local Cllr.

It was announced on Friday at the launch of the National Planning Framework that Sligo Hospital would get a significant upgrade.

Leo Varadkar confirmed that building work would begin on a new Emergency Department within three years, while a diabetic centre and radiolgy department would be completed by 2021.

But Sinn Fein Cllr Chris McManus, says some of these announcements had been made before….

Meanwhile after Ocean FM News made a query, the Saolta Hospital Group, who are in charge of hospitals of the West and Northwest, have said they have received no details about any proposed upgrade works at Sligo Hospital.
