Farmers need to know if fodder transport payments can be backdated



Farmers are calling for clarification from the Minister for Agriculture on whether the new fodder transport payments can be backdated.

Hauliers also want to ensure that VAT will not be applied to the subsidy.

Minister Michael Creed announed the details of the long-awaited scheme yesterday.

While farming organisations have welcomed it, many say it’s not enough and there are calls for him today to reduce the required distance down to 50km.
