Building in Sligo ‘at high risk’ of collapse

A building in the centre of Sligo town has ‘a high risk of collapsing’ onto the street.

An engineer’s report from the Council has found the building at 39 High Street is ‘unsafe, structurally unsound’ and at serious risk of falling onto the Street.’.

The report recommends it be demolished as soon as possible.

As it’s a protected structure, the council is now waiting for a report from a conservation specialist.

In the meantime the footpath and roadway in front of the building is cordoned off for safety.
