Chief Superintendent confirms new Garda for Kinlough



The new Chief Superintendent in Sligo Leitrim has not ruled out allocating more Gardai to small rural areas.

Aidan Glacken who took up his new role just three weeks ago says that he has already approved a new Garda member for Kinlough in north Leitrim.

He says that five new recruits will also join the Sligo station later this month

Speaking to Ocean FM News at his first Joint Policing Committee meeting in Sligo, Superintendent Glacken said the needs of all areas will be taken on board:

Increased CCTV coverage is also being considered for the Sligo town area.

The Mail Coach road is one of a number of areas where new cameras may be installed as part of the extension of the current system in and around Sligo town.

There are already 27 cameras in place around Sligo.
