Flood funding a priority for Donegal Municipal District budget meeting

The provision of more money to alleviate the affects of flooding will be among the priorities for Donegal Municipal District councillors when they meet this coming Monday to discuss their draft budget for the coming year.

While roads and housing are always top of the list when it comes to budget allocations, the issue of flooding is an added concern this year.

While the north of the county was devastated by unprecedented floods earlier in the year, the south was badly hit later, particularly around Killybegs, Fintra and Kilcar areas.

Donegal Municipal District Chairman Councillor Tom Conaghan says councillors will be hoping to have more money in their own budget to deal with flooding issues as well as getting more from central government.
