Sligo whale to be buried near where it washed up



Sligo County Council has confirmed that a 62 foot whale washed up in west Sligo is being buried in the area.

A male fin whale, measuring over 60 feet long, washed up on Trawee Beach on Saturday.

Last week a fin whale of a similar size washed up in county Donegal but was washed back out to sea.

The whale in Sligo is to be buried according to the Council which has also informed the ‘Irish Whale and Dolphin Group’ of the situation.

It’s being buried near where it washed up.
