Sligo Councillors hope funding for the completion of a key road to an IDA business park in Sligo Town will be announced in January.
The so-called Western Distributor Route would complete a link between the N4 Sligo/Dublin road and the the Finisklin business park.
The road is regarded as crucial in the effort to attract new businesses to the park.
Fianna Fail Councillor Tom MacSharry says they expected the funding to be announced following last month’s budget.
However, Council Director of Services Tom Kilfeather confirmed this week that specific announcements of funding from the Department of Transport normally come in January.
