New film fund launched today

A new film fund could result in 90 new jobs being created in the west and north west.

The Western Region Audiovisual Producer’s Fund, being launched today in Galway, is for film, TV, animation and gaming industries in counties Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal, along with Galway, Clare, Mayo and Roscommon.

The WRAP fund will provide €2m with the aim of helping develop projects in the entertainment industry and with the expectation that at least 20% of these would secure resources to enter full production.

Speaking to OceanFM, Geraldine McLoughlin, of the Western Development Commission, says more jobs have a knock-on effect for the local economy.
