Harkin hosts major promotion of Sligo in Brussels



A major promotion of Sligo and all that it has to offer is being launched in Brussels this evening (Tue).

Hosted by Midlands North West MEP Marian Harkin, it includes an exhibition on Sligo in the European Parliament building.

About 40 people from Sligo are in Brussels for this evening’s launch; they include the Cathaoirleach of the County Council Cllr Seamus Kilgannon, the Mayor of Sligo Cllr Hubert Keaney, Cllr Jerry Lundy, the CEO of the County Council Ciaran Hayes and council officials.

Various aspects of Sligo life are also represented, among them the Yeats Society, the surfing community, and Bord Failte, as well as previous winners of the Cathaoirleach’s Awards.

The event coincides with Sligo being the European Capital of Volunteering for 2017.
