Nominations for the Clean Coast’s Ocean Hero Awards are now open.
Clean Coast’s is an organisation that gets involved with local communities to protect local beaches, the sea and marine life and is run by An Tasice funded by the Department of Housing and Local Government.
There are currently 550 registered groups around the country with over 100 of them based in the North West Region.
Last year, a Donegal-based group called ‘Coastal Warriors’ won the ‘Newcomer of the Year Award’ for their work supporting people with disabilities to take up coastal cleaning work.
The Ocean Hero Awards are for volunteers that local communities feel have made an outstanding contribution to Ireland’s coasts.
