Age Action: Pensioners should not be penalised for not having a PS card

Age Action says it’s concerned at comments from Minister Regina Doherty that a Public Services Card is now mandatory to receive payments from the Department of Employment and Social Protection.

Justin Moran, of Age Action, says he would be very worried if this new requirement leads to more older people losing their entitlements.

He called on the department to ensure that no person is penalised because they do not have a Public Services Card.

Some people may not have a card because they refuse on a point of principle.

Last January, the Department of Employment and Social Protection said one in four people with a travel pass did not have a Public Services Card.

Mr Moran has been outlining his concerns to Ocean FM News:
