Council cannot yet take over Millrace development in Manorhamilton

Leitrim County Council cannot take over a housing development in Manorhamilton because it does not have a direct link to a public road.

At a Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting of the council, Fianna Fail Councillor Mary Bohan asked about issues that have been raised by the Mill Residents Association.

The council’s senior engineer in charge of roads, Shay O Connor, said the Millrace housing development relied on acess over, what he described as ‘third-party lands’.

And he added that this road, path, handrail and steps were not in a satisfactory condition.

He said it would be necessary that defects be rectified before the council could consider taking over the development.
