A North Leitrim councillor says that with all the discussion about the need for improved broadband coverage in rural areas, the issue of ordinary mobile phone coverage is being forgotten.
Fine Gael Councillor Sean McDermott was speaking to Ocean FM News as people in parts of North Leitrim have been without mobile phone coverage for the past few days.
Cllr McDermott says he himself has been without coverage since 5 o’clock on Sunday evening and that he has been told by his operator that the problem has been caused by a fault that will take five working days to fix.
He also says it’s a particular problem for people living in isolated parts.
Cllr McDermott says he feels the ordinary mobile phone service is getting worse.
