The European Union will tomorrow name the Northern and Western region as the ‘European Entrepreneurial Region’ for 2018.
The accolade recognises the strides this region has taken in recent years to foster entrepreneurship and arrest years of economic decline.
The award, which will be announced by the EU’s Committee of Regions in Brussels, will be given to the region because of its collectively developed policies that are transforming the area ‘from adversity to advantage’.
The award will be marked with a series of keynote events and initiatives throughout 2018.
These events will build on existing and new job creation projects and innovation across the Northern and Western region.
The award will be accepted by David Minton, Director of the Northern and Western Regional Assembly. He explained to Ocean FM News, the benefits of receiving such an award:
