Sligo cathaoirleach says fewer councillors going on St Patrick’s Day trips abroad



The new Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council says he doesn’t want to be the one to call an end to St. Patrick’s day trips to the United States.

Fianna Fail Councillor Seamus Kilgannon was elected as Chairperson of the Council yesterday.

Reports at the weekend, revealed that the cost of the trip by the Sligo delegation to the US in March which included outgoing Cathaoirleach Hubert keaney and two Council officials came to over €3100 for flights with a hotel bill of over €7000.

Speaking to Ocean FM today, Councillor Kilgannon says that in recent years the number of Councillors who go on this trips in county Sligo has been significantly scaled back with only the chairman going along with Council officials.
