Councillor wants live broadcast of meetings

Members of the public anywhere will be able to watch and listen to meetings of Sligo County Council, if a member of the council has his way.

Sinn Fein Councillor Chris MacManus will propose at next Monday’s meeting that proposals for live web casting, or other live broadcasting means, be brought forward.

It would also allow the public to see and hear how councillors and officials act and what they have to say at meetings.

Cllr MacManus says live webcasting of the meetings would enhance local democracy.
