Council removes obstacle to access at Sligo car park

Sligo County Council says a temporary barrier at the entrance to the Connaughton road car park in Sligo town has been removed.

In a statement to Ocean FM News, the council says the barrier was removed at 2 o’clock today.

It follows recent complaints from motorists in Sligo that they were unable to drive into the car park off Connaughton Road.

There had been a wooden pallet tied across one part of the entrance while a gas tank was left in another part.

Earlier there had been a rope tied across part of the entrance.

It’s understood another temporary barrier has since been put up again this afternoon, however, the Council says it is continuing to monitor the situation in conjunction with the Gardai.
