Sligo/Leitrim TD condemns ticket-touting as ‘a rip-off’



A Sligo/Leitrim TD has hit out at ticket touting.

Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Kenny has branded it ‘unfair’ particularly for teenagers who have been waiting for years to see their star.

Speaking during an anti-ticket touting Bill in the Dail last night, Mr Kenny says that with touting, tickets are snapped up in a matter of minuites but then become available online moments later at exhorbitant prices.

He says there are two kinds of businesses in this area, one being legitimate and the other which sets out to rip people off and make massive profits.

Deputy Kenny also says there is a rural dimension to this as broadband speeds in some areas mean it is seldom possible to buy a ticket online immeediately after they go on sale.
