Tubbercurry gets ready for All-Ireland drama finals



A large influx of people is expected into the South Sligo town of Tubbercurry this weekend for the Western Drama Festival.

Centrepiece of events will be the All-Ireland amateur drama finals which take place in St Brigid’s Hall in the town on Friday and Saturday.

Tubbercurry has a long and proud tradition when it comes to the writing, production and staging of plays, with the Western Drama Festival now a cultural institution in the region.

Eileen Davey, PRO for the drama festival, has been telling Ocean FM News how people in Tubbercurry are preparing:

Yesterday, the Western Drama Festival committee was honoured with a civic reception in Teach Laighne in Tubbercurry.

It was hosted by the Councillor Dara Mulvey, chairman of the Tubbercurry/Ballymote/West Sligo Municipal District of Sligo County Council.
