Council pays tribute to achievements of Sligo’s Mona McSharry



Tributes have been paid to Mona McSharry at a meeting of Sligo County Council today.

The 16 year old from Sligo set three new national records after an incredible weekend at the Irish Open Championships.

She swept the women’s breaststroke events adding 200m gold to her 50m and 100m titles from earlier this week.

Mona broke her own Irish Junior Record (2:29.98) in 2 minutes 29.22 seconds. The 16 year old now holds all three junior breaststroke records.
