Leitrim IFA man hits back at minister’s ‘scaremongering’ comments

A local Leitrim IFA officer has hit back at Agriculture Minister Michael Creed who has accused farming organisations of ‘scaremongering’ about the future of regional veterinary laboratories.

The minister was responding to a question from Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue in the Dail on behalf of Sligo/Leitrim TD Eamon Scanlon.

Farmers in this region are concerned about the future of the veterinary laboratory at Doonally, Co Sligo.

Minister Creed says no decision has yet been taken on the labs and he claims an element of ‘scaremongering’ has been taking place.

But, as Leitrim IFA Sheep Committee Chairman Kevin Comiskey tells Ocean FM’s Claire Mulcahy, he takes statements about no decision being made with a pinch of salt.
