Weather causes delay to opening of North West’s International Trade Centre in US

The weather hasn’t affected the trip of a Donegal delegation to the United States this week as part of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Minister for the Diaspora Joe McHugh joined An Taoiseach Enda Kenny in Philadelphia.

Cathaoirleach Terence Slowey and Leas-cathaoirleach Barry O’Neill also joined the celebrations where they met with the Philadelphia Donegal Association and the Irish American Philadelphia Business Chamber.

The delegation will be travelling to New York and Boston later this week to take part in the parades there and will meet with various Donegal Associations and the extended Donegal community in the US.

The official opening of an International Trade Centre in Rhode Island today was hit by the weather.

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny was to open the joint venture by local enterprise offices in the North West in Providence this morning but almost 2 feet of snowfall meant the ceremony had to be postponed.

It is hoped the centre will receive an official opening later this week.
