McHugh seeks public’s opinion on voting in presidential elections



Presidential elections in Ireland could soon have more voters outside the State than within it.

That’s according to figures from the Junior Minister tasked with a referendum on giving a vote to citizens outside the country.

Donegal Fine Gael Deputy Joe McHugh says 1.8 million people in the North, and 1.8 million citizens overseas, could now be given a vote.

But he wants the public to get involved in discussions on exactly who should qualify for a vote:
