Crime Victims Office for Sligo/Leitrim located in Carrick on Shannon Garda Station



Victims of crime throughout Sligo/Leitrim who need information, help or support have been urged to contact the Garda Victims Crime Office in Carrick on Shannon.

The office has been open since May 2015.

Details on the office and what it dies were given this week at a meeting of the County Leitrim Joint Policing Committee in Drumshanbo.

The Garda Victims Office is located in Carrick on Shannon Garda Station.

Aisling McMorrow, from the Victims Office, told the policing committee that it also provides crime prevention advice.

She says it’s important the office can make contact within victims within three days of an incident happening.

She added that the office will also contact victims if there is any significant development in their cases.

The Victims’ Office also has links with suppport agencies such as the Domestic Violence Awareness and Support, or DIVAS; the Sligo/Leitrim Suicide Bereavement Office, Pieta House, Anamcara which helps those bereaved by the deaths of children, and Feileachain, which helps those affected by stillborn deaths or the deaths of young babies.
