Local TDs aim to make it easier to tender state contracts

TDs from the region are calling for it to be made easier for local businesses and contractors to tender for State contracts.

A new Fianna Fail Bill, which was debated in the Dail aims to increase competition by improving the ability of small and medium sized businesses to compete for work.

Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail Deputy Marc MacSharry says many businesses are not able to compete with large multinationals for contracts.

He told the Dail in recent years, the Dail restaurants had changed their delph and a cursory glance at the back of the plates reveals they were made in the United Arab Emirates.

His Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail colleague Eamon Scanlon outlined the consequences of not introducing the Bill proposed by his party.
