Donegal man loses out on job due to delays having insulin pump fitted

A Donegal TD has told the Dail how a young man with diabetes from the county was unable to take up a job in Scotland because of delays in having an insulin pump fitted in Sligo University Hospital.

Independent Deputy Thomas Pringle says the man concerned can go to Dublin and have the pump fitted privately.

But he says he will not do this as he should not even have to go to Sligo hospital, insisting this service should be proved in local hospitals, such as Letterkenny.

Deputy Pringle says the problem arises because the working hours of the diabetes nurse in Sligo have been cut.
