A Fianna Fail councillor has hit out at a local government TD over the delay in getting a new Garda station for Sligo Town.
Tom MacSharry has accused Fine Gael’s Tony McLoughlin and the Minister for Justice of making false and misleading promises about the station in the lead up to the last general election.
It was announced that a new station would be provided for Sligo but as yet that has not happened.
Last year an engineer’s report found the building was not fit for purpose, that it was a fire trap, a health and safety hazard, and too small for the current workforce.
Speaking on Ocean FM councillor MacSharry believes it is fair to lay the blame deputy McLoughlin’s door in the circumstances.
