Cathaoirligh set for the US this St. Patrick’s Day

Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo County Councils will all be represented in the United States this St. Patrick’s Day.

Some members have been invited by the ex-pat communities in the country to represent their locality on the day.

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Fine Gael Councillor Hubert Keaney will be there as a representative of the county.

He has been invited as a guest of the County Sligo Social and Benevolent Association of New York to celebrate the Irish holiday there.

Leitrim council Cathaoirleach Fianna Fail’s Mary Bohan will also be in New York for the festivities.

The council CEO Frank Curran will also be travelling to the States for a series of meetings alongside Councillor Bohan.

Both will be guests of the Leitrim Association, the third largest Irish ex-pat group in America.

Donegal council will be represented by Fine Gael councillors Terence Slowey and Barry O’Neill in their roles as Cathaoirleach and Leas-Cathaoirleach.

The arrangements for their trip are still being finalised.

It was confirmed to Ocean FM that the cost of each trip on the taxpayer will not be known until after St. Patrick’s Day.
