Teagasc sheep conference taking place in Carrick on Shannon today



Farmers say they can’t afford to wait for payments owed to them since October.

Over 9000 farmers are due payments under the environmental GLAS scheme.

The Department of Agriculture has blamed an IT problem for the delay.

The Teagasc annual sheep conference is taking place in Carrick-on-Shannon this evening.

There will be a number of guest speakers at the event which takes place in the Landmark Hotel at 5:30pm next Tuesday, the 31st January.

Professor Michael Diskin, Head of the Animal & Bioscience Research Department with Teasgasc is one of the organisers of this event every years.

He says that increasing the litter size in flocks is something that will be discussed
