Additional funding for Local Enterprise Offices to deal with Brexit

Local Enterprise Offices in the North West are to receive additional funding for job creation and to deal with the onset of Brexit.

The Minister for Small Business Pat Breen yesterday announced that four million euro extra has been allocated between the 31 LEO’s around the county.

The money is to stimulate new start ups and jobs and help micro businesses cope with challenges in the year ahead.

The total capital allocation for 2017 will be €22.5 million, an increase of almost 22 percent over the 2016 allocation.

Joe Lowe is head of the Leitrim LEO and he believes the extra allocation is geared towards upskilling in the face of Brexit.
