Future of Sligo respite centre discussed in Dail



There are calls for the HSE to clarify the status of respite hours for users of the Solas Respite Service in Sligo.

The centre provides respite to children with a learning disability and autism in the Sligo/Leitrim area and it opened in Sligo town in 2009 at a cost of €1.2m.

Mayor of Sligo Marie Casserly said queries had been made to her by parents about a cut to respite hours before Christmas.

Fianna Fail Deputy Eamon Scanlon raised the issue in the Dail yesterday.

The Taoiseach has committed to getting clarification from the Minister for Health and the HSE on the matter:
