Snow in Barnesmore Gap in Donegal, roads ‘treacherous’ around Sligo



With snow in parts of Donegal and road conditions in places around Sligo town said to be treacherous in places, motorists throughout the North West are being warned to drive with care.

A vehicle has gone off the road between Dromahair and Sligo, near St Angela’s College.

An orange weather warning is in place for Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

Heavy sleet and possibly snow is expected across the region, with ice said to be a particular danger.

Local authorities in Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal continue to monitor the situation and have had gritter trucks out on the roads last night and this morning.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is advising all road users to take extra care when using the roads.
