SVP: Middle-income families struggling most financially



St. Vincent de Paul says the demand for their service is up 10% on last year.

Rosa Glacken is Vice-President of St. Vincent de Paul in the north west.

She has been speaking to Ocean FM following concerns raised by Fianna Fail Councillor in Sligo Seamus Kilgannon this week on the problem of people being forced to use moneylenders.

He says some of them are charging rates of more than 187%.
