Tillage farmers take their case for emergency fund to Commissioner Hogan in Brussels



Calls for an emergency fund to be set up for tillage farmers have so far been rejected at a government level.

Fianna Fáil Agriculture Spokesperson Charlie McConalogue has hit out at the Agriculture Minister for ruling out any possibility of such a fund.

The sector has been badly hit this year because of unusually wet weather this summer.

Michael Chance, IFA Chair in Donegal is a tillage farmers, he says this is disappointing and he hopes for a more positive outcome from the Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan when the IFA meets him in Brussels on Thursday:
