Kenny says withdrawal of claims make little difference to the need for Inquiry



The Sligo Leitrim TD who made allegations in the Dail of garda malpractice in Leitrim says the reported withdrawal of claims by one person makes no difference to his calls for a Commission of Investigation into the allegations.

Deputy Kenny told the Dail of allegations that members of the force had engaged active criminals as informants, ran their own informants and used informers to set up or entrap people.

He has already met GSOC over the allegations.

Deputy Kenny told Ocean FM that the people who made claims to him were not garda informants but were whistleblowers who were either serving or retired members of the gardai.

And he says reports in a newspaper of the withdrawal of allegations by one person is irrelevant:
