7,000 students throughout Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal sit down to exams this morning



Almost 7,000 students throughout Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are sitting down to State exams this morning.

That’s made up of just under 3,500 sitting the Leaving Certificate and just over 3,500 doing the Junior Certificate.

The largest number of students in the region starting their exams this morning is in County Donegal.

2,171 are doing the Leaving Certificate throughout the county, made up of 1,082 boys and 1,089 girls.

In County Sligo, 840 students — 419 boys and 421 girls — are doing the Leaving Certificate.

In Leitrim, there are 469 doing the Leaving Certificate, made up of 251 boys and 218 girls.

In Cavan, 820 students are doing the Leaving Cert.

In relation to the Junior Cert, 2,260 students — 1,147 boys and 1,113 girls — are sitting the exam in County Donegal.

The figure for Leitrim is 389, made up of 205 boys and 184 girls.

In County Sligo, 860 are doing the Junior Cert, that’s 450 boys and 410 girls.
