All-Ireland winning captain to receive Freedom of Donegal

Donegal All-Ireland winning captain Anthony Molloy is to be honored at a civic reception in Lifford this evening when he will be accorded the Freedom of Donegal.

The award is in recognition of his work as an ambassador for the county and his contributions to Gaelic games.

He is the first person to receive the award for their involvement with the GAA. Previous recipients include Irish goalkeepers Packie Bonner and Shay Given, and Irish Olympic team manager Patsy McGonagle.

Molloy captained Donegal to their very first All-Ireland title in 1992.
