€8.2m Lottery win: 90-day deadline may now be irrelevant as claim is already made

This Friday marks the 90-day deadline for the person who won 8.2 million euro on a Lottery ticket bought in a Sligo shop to claim their prize.

It’s understood the claimant is one person but so far, the National Lottery has not paid out the money.

There is speculation that the reason surrounds validation of the ticket, which may have been damaged.

However, Darren Hassett, journalist with the Irish Daily Mail, told Ocean FM that when it comes to the 90-day deadline, there’s a difference between claiming the prize and collecting the money.

He says the 90-day deadline does not now apply as the person who bought the ticket has already made their claim.
