Calls for Department to meet Donegal Gaelscoil management on site



A Gaelscoil in Donegal is calling for Department officials to come and see for themselves the challenging conditions staff and pupils are facing.

The Gaelscoil na gCeithre Maistri in Brookfield, Donegal town is on the latest Capital list for a new School having operated out of four prefabs for over 17 years.

In reply to a Dáil question in the last week, the Minister for Education Richard Bruton stated “the project can now proceed to the planning design stage”.

However, this does not guarantee work would start before at least 2019.

Management at the school say that is too late and they will struggle to get through another winter in the current prefabs.

Marcus Flannery, a parent and member of the Board of Management says they are calling for officials from the Department to come Donegal and see for themselves how urgent the situation is:
