Aoife McDermott selected on Irish team for Euros



Sligo’s Aoife McDermott will be part of the Irish senior women’s squad for the European Championships for Small Countries next month.

 

It is the first time an Irish women’s team will be entered into European competition for six years, and Riverstown native McDermott will be a key player in Mark Scannell’s squad for the tournament in Gibraltar.

 

McDermott currently plays with DCU Mercy in the Women’s Super League having previously played with UL and started out with Sligo All-Stars.

 

Ireland are grouped with Moldova and Wales in Group A, with the tournament in Gibraltar taking place from June 26 to July 3.
