Tourism boost for Killybegs with major cruise ship docking this morning



The Local tourism industry in Killybegs is set for a major boost with the arrival of the cruise liner ‘Ambience’ to the local fishing port.

 

The liner, 245 metres long is the second longest cruise liner to arrive in Killybegs and will have 2,000 guests and crew on board many of whom will be expected to visit Killybegs today and other tourist locations in Donegal.

 

The ship is expected in Killybegs at 8 am this morning and will depart again at 5 p.m.

 

Meanwhile the world’s largest private residential ship will arrive in Killybegs next month.

 

The vessel called ‘the world’ which contains 165 homes is owned by its residents.  This will be its first visit Killybegs.

 

Homes on board the vessel tend to secure anywhere between 2 and 15 million euro when they go on the market.

 

It’s expected to arrive in Killybegs on September 3rd.

 

Killybegs Councillor Niamh Kennedy says there a massive buzz around Killybegs ahead of the arrival of the first vessel docking this morning.
